Waikele NSW: Neighborhood Security Watch Program
The Neighborhood Security Watch Program is great opportunity for homeowners to become involved within their neighborhood, promote crime prevention awareness and strengthen neighborhood spirit.
As a Honolulu Police Department sponsored program, NSW members provide vital information to the police of any crime or suspicious activity witnessed.
NSW members are educated on the following:
To establish a NSW team in your neighborhood, an initial meeting must be held somewhere convenient for homeowners (neighborhood parking lot, driveway or front yard of a homeowner’s home, or neighborhood park). A Community Policing Officer from the Honolulu Police Department will also be present to discuss rules and requirements of becoming a NSW member as well as additional information on the program. Each neighborhood team will need to establish a neighborhood captain who will act as the leader of the team and as a main point of contact with the Waikele Community Association and HPD.

- Residential Security Inspections
- Reporting Suspicious Activities to 911

Established NSW teams in Waikele:
NSW members who are also interested participating in Citizens Patrol should contact their NSW Captain for more information. Citizens Patrol is an extension of the NSW Program, and involves citizens who volunteer their spare time to patrol the neighborhoods they live in. A neighborhood can be patrolled at all hours of the day or night, 7 days a week, with a minimum of 2 people. Volunteers for Citizens Patrol are required to sign a waiver form prepared by HPD and will receive a yellow Citizens Patrol T-shirt, courtesy of the Waikele Community Association.
