In 1996, the Waikele Community Association elected Mitsuo “Mits” Shito as the first homeowner Board President. As an original owner of Golf Club Estates, Mits Shito guided Waikele from its early years of development to become the award winning master planned community it is today.
Mr. Shito was well respected throughout the State of Hawaii, serving many years in the State House of Representatives. During his 14 years as a Legislator, Mr. Shito made many contributions to the Pearl City and Waipahu District that we still benefit from till this day. He also served 42 years in the Hawaii Army National Guard, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. Prior to joining the WCA Board of Directors, Mr. Shito also served several years as chairman of the WCA Modifications Committee.
On February 12, 2010, Mr. Shito passed away at the age of 79 years. The Waikele Community Association will be forever grateful to Mits Shito. For it was through his leadership and vision that Waikele gain the reputation as Hawaii’s Premier Planned Community and will continue to be preserved for our future generations.
